Time Resource Kit Help
The Time Resource Kit is designed to provide you with all the images and worksheets you will need to use the "It's About Time!" curriculum in your classroom. With these resources you can simulate a number of the actual exhibits in the History Lab Learning Center. First, however, you need to transfer all this information to your computer. The following tips will help you with the process. Downloading the WorksheetsThe worksheets are provided in three formats: Microsoft Word (DOC), Rich Text Format (RTF), and HTML. One easy way to get the worksheets is to simply print them from the web page. However, for more predictable printing output, you may wish to download one of the word processing files. Microsoft Word users may double-click on the MS Word format link, and Word will automatically open the worksheet. Those who use other word processing programs may download the Rich Text Format versions of the worksheets. Most programs, including Word, are capable of opening RTF files. Downloading the ImagesBecause Microsoft Internet Explorer allows the insertion of page breaks, the images on the HTML pages will each print on a separate page when using IE. Netscape users may experience problems with printing and may need to download the images separately and print them individually. There are several ways to download the images: Most of the Inquiries have Zip files that contain all the images and worksheets in one compressed file. If you are familiar with this technology, this is an excellent way to download all the resources at once. If you do not have WinZip or a similar program on your system, you may need to download and install it. Windows Users: Netscape Navigator or Communicator - To download individual images, right click on an image, then select Save Image As, and save the image to a directory or folder on your hard drive. Macintosh Users: Netscape Navigator or Communicator - To download individual images, Control-click on an image, then select Save this Image As, and save to a folder on your hard drive. Opening the ImagesIf you have an image program such as Image Viewer, Adobe Photoshop, Ulead Photo Impact, or any other image editing program, you will be able to open and print the GIF and JPG files that are included in the Time Resource Kit. If you have a drawing program such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, or CorelDraw, you will be able to import the image files and print them. If you do not have either of these types of programs, you can open the images in a Browser window and print from there. Read through the following for instructions on how to do this. Windows Users: Netscape Navigator or Communicator - From the top menu in the browser, select File --> Open Page --> Choose File, then locate the desktop, directory or folder where you saved the images and select an image. Click Open, then Open again, and the image should appear on your screen. Be sure that the browser, not Composer, is checked in the first dialog box. Select File --> Print. Macintosh Users: Netscape Navigator or Communicator - From the top menu in the browser, select File --> Open --> Page in Navigator, then locate the desktop or folder where you saved the images and select an image. Click Open and the image should appear on your screen. Be sure that the browser, not i, is selected in the first dialog box. Select File --> Print.
