AT THE WASHINGTON STATE HISTORY MUSEUM:
We found an object that looked like ours. The label read:
"Makah, mid-19th Century"
IN THE CONSERVATION LAB:
Measurements
37 inches long by 14 inches high by 16 inches wide.
Weight
The object weighs approximately 5 pounds.
Materials
Sealskin, inside out or fur side in, however you want to describe it. And it is dyed darker around the "knobby" parts that are bound with some sort of thread. The rope is made of cedar bark.
We need more information.
Note to Self:
What does Makah mean? Is it a type of bird?
